How to Commission WorkBecause each commissioned piece is designed to fit the needs of the individual this process requires a degree of interaction between the artist and the client. The design and creation procedure will differ with each project due to distance, size, and time required to complete each step. Listed below is a process we suggest to commission work.ContactWe invite you to take some time to become familiar with our style of work. Spend some time looking through our portfolio. Make notes of what you like, then Contact Us so that we can set up a consultation. ConsultationAfter initial contact, we will set up a meeting with the client to discuss ideas. We may require a visit to the site of the project depending on the scope of the commission. During this process we will discuss your budget and give a rough estimate of the overall cost. To proceed to the design stage we request a ten percent design fee based on our estimate, which is deducted from the final cost if the project is commissioned. DesignBecause the design phase is the most important work on the project, there are no set rules as to the length time this may take. After the design is developed and on paper, we will present it to you for final adjustments and approval. PaymentsWhen the design is approved, we provide you with a written proposal detailing total costs, along with payment and completion schedules. Work StatusWe welcome clients to visit the studios while their work is being crafted. Many of our patrons find it exciting to see the tools and techniques used to build hand crafted metalwork. We also have Work in Progress published on our website which will allow you to follow the progress of the commission as it takes form. Contact UsPlease Contact Us if you have questions or are interested in a commissioned piece.
